NEW DELHI: India’s Election Commission (ECI) will announce tomorrow the schedule for general elections in 2024, the biggest elections in the world.
In a message on X, a spokesperson of the ECI said, “Press Conference by Election Commission to announce the schedule for #GeneralElections2024 and some State Assemblies will be held at 3 pm tomorrow i.e. Saturday, 16th March. It will be live-streamed on social media platforms of the ECI”.
The last elections to Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament, in 2019 were held in seven phases from 11th April to 19th May.
Political parties have already begun announcing their candidates for the general elections. The ruling BJP has so far released two lists of candidates. The opposition Congress party has also released two lists of candidates for the polls.
