Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) has unveiled its 2024 ADIA Review, offering an in-depth analysis of its activities over the past year, along with projections for the future. Established in 1976, ADIA is a globally-diversified investment institution that prudently manages funds on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi, emphasizing long-term value creation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the 2024 ADIA Review provides a detailed examination of market conditions across various asset classes and significant developments within each of its investing departments. The past year witnessed contrasting trends in global markets, where economic optimism fueled risk assets to achieve substantial gains despite rising geopolitical and structural risks.
ADIA’s focus on diversification, agility, and total portfolio management has resulted in a robust performance throughout 2024. The organization has embraced a scientific approach, investing significantly in its quantitative and data analysis capabilities, enabling dynamic portfolio adjustments and enhanced capture of long-term trends.
As of December 31, 2024, ADIA reported 20-year and 30-year annualized rates of return at 6.3% and 7.1%, respectively, a slight change from the previous year’s 6.4% and 6.8%.
The Operational Review also highlights major initiatives, including the evolution of ADIA’s middle and back office (MBO) functions into drivers of innovation and agility. These roles now support total portfolio management through increased transparency and streamlined execution.
ADIA has also embedded quantitative, data, and AI skills across the organization, fostering a scientific mindset and dynamic work environment. Developing UAE national talent remains a key recruitment strategy.
Moreover, ADIA Lab has significantly contributed to Abu Dhabi’s digital ecosystem. The Lab expanded its annual Symposium into a three-day event, attracting global experts to discuss artificial intelligence’s development and adoption. This initiative underscores ADIA Lab’s role in promoting Abu Dhabi as a hub for research and education, nurturing the region’s future talent.
