FOR AN ADDITIONAL THREE YEARS, SCHS DESERVES ACCREDITATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL “CARF”

For the second consecutive period “and extends for three years”, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) obtained the accreditation of the International CARF Foundation, after obtaining it for the first time in 2020 for three years as well.

Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of SCHS, is so proud of this global status. It comes as a culmination of a march full of giving and achievements since its establishment in 1979, as the first institution in the United Arab Emirates concerned with issues of persons with disabilities and their rights. SCHS has been working hard to contain, advocate, empower, educate, and integrate them into society.

Therefore, the president of SCHS extended her thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. He is the honorary president for SCHS. She thanked him for the unlimited support that allowed SCHS to assume a global position consistent with its services and programs that it provides to persons with disabilities according to the best practices.

Sheikha Jamila has confirmed that SCHS attaches great importance to its global position through strategic planning, achieving goals, and keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field. Especially, as SCHS is the first institution dealing with persons with disabilities in the United Arab Emirates to obtain this accreditation.

She explained the importance of obtaining “CARF” accreditation in the development of academic and professional services provided to persons with disabilities. CARF Foundation is concerned with granting international accreditation for the standards of institutions working in the field of persons with disabilities, rehabilitation, health and treatment. (Children, adolescent services, and early intervention services).

The value of accreditation also lies in the fact that it allows the organization to improve business with excellence in service and strategy in quality, vision, positivity and risk management. It also enables developing business strategies, competitive excellence and activating relations with partners.

Sheikha Jamila thanked the international institution, appreciating its cooperation with SCHS, and the well-deserved praise for its services. She also thanked the team working in SCHS. She stressed that concerted efforts and sincerity are among the most important elements of success and excellence.

A well-deserved praise and evaluation

Before Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services obtained CARF accreditation for the second period, an evaluation process took place. It lasted for three days (5-6-7) of December 2022, in which the evaluation team from the CARF Foundation, officials and managers of SCHS, students, parents and partners participated. Through three teams: the administration team, the early intervention team, and the Al-Wafa School for Capacity Development team.

During the “remote” evaluation process, teams discussed daily work and tasks, documentation sessions, individual plans, security and safety standards. The team made virtual tours within SCHS’s facilities and with its school buses.

The Evaluation Committee of CARF Foundation praised the programs, activities and services provided by SCHS to persons with disabilities and their families in line with the CARF standards.

They said, “SCHS’s employees have the necessary competence and experience to work with persons with disabilities according to the best and latest practices. SCHS’s partners are proud to work and cooperate with it in various fields”.

The evaluation committee also referred to parents’ happiness and satisfaction with the services provided by SCHS to their children who receive SCHS’s various services, while giving them the opportunity to participate in activities internally and externally.

It is worth noting that the global CARF institution provides its accreditation by aligning SCHS’s standards with the international standards of CARF. CARF developed these standards according to the best international practices, which are related to the role of management represented by leadership, workforce development, institutional development, strategic plans, internal programs and operations, and the institution’s relationship with partners.
