Global Council for Tolerance Highlights Role of Religious Leaders in Sustainability and Environmental Protection.


Baku: Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, highlighted the crucial role religious leaders play in fostering dialogue, tolerance, and peace. He emphasized that when religious leaders unite, they significantly contribute to achieving sustainability and environmental protection, which are essential for securing a brighter future for upcoming generations. Al Jarwan delivered these remarks during his speech at the Global Summit of Religious Leaders in Baku, held under the theme ‘World Religions for a Green Planet’ as part of preparations for COP29.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Jarwan stressed the unprecedented challenges currently facing the world, which adversely affect global security and stability, damage the environment, and threaten the future of the planet. Gafarova highlighted the important contributions of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in promoting global peace and tolerance. She noted Azerbaijan’s longstanding tradition of fostering cultural diversity, tolerance, and interfaith dialogue. She also announced that a parliamentary conference would be organized as part of COP29 activities, expressing confidence that it would provide a vital platform to discuss key issues.
