Governor of CBUAE Attends GCC Central Bank Governors Committee Meeting in Kuwait


Kuwait city: Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), participated in the 85th Meeting of the GCC Central Bank Governors Committee held in Kuwait. The meeting was attended by central bank governors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and senior officials from the General Secretariat of the GCC.



According to Emirates News Agency, Ebrahim Obaid Alzaabi, Assistant Governor for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability, was also in attendance, accompanied by a delegation of senior officials from CBUAE. The central bank governors reviewed recent monetary and financial developments in GCC member states, focusing on strengthening cooperation in monetary policy, financial systems, and banking services.



The meeting discussions included topics such as payment systems, supervision, financial technology, and the exchange of cybersecurity expertise and information within the banking sector. Additionally, the governors explored initiatives to enhance international cooperation and addressed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s efforts to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
