Hosting ISO Annual Meeting in Abu Dhabi reaffirms UAE’s prestigious position: Sarah Al Amiri

ABU DHABI, Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, said the directives of the UAE’s leadership underscore the importance of reinforcing cooperation with the international community on all levels, including within advanced industries that play a crucial role in bolstering the UAE economy and increasing its regional and global competitiveness.

In a statement today, Al Amiri stressed that hosting the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) Annual Meeting in the capital, Abu Dhabi, reaffirms the UAE’s position as an international platform for collaboration.

“This international assembly, held in our country for the second time, is a valuable opportunity for experts and specialists to enhance global standards,” she noted.

Al Amiri explained that the meeting aligns with the UAE’s vision for the future and strategy for harnessing technological transformations, which is vital to enhancing the UAE’s quality infrastructure ecosystem, supporting the competitiveness of national industries and promoting technological development. “This ecosystem is essential to enabling the plans, initiatives, and strategies that are positioned to help the industrial and advanced technology sectors increase their contribution to GDP,” she added.

The Minister stated that the UAE continues to make significant strides in enhancing its quality infrastructure, while working to align national standards with international best practices to support sustainable industrial development. “Advanced technology and collaboration with our regional and international partners are vital to this work,” she said.

Engaging in knowledge and experience exchanges in standardisation supports the country’s national objectives, while its policies for enhancing standards continue to unlock new global markets, further supporting economic growth, Al Amiri concluded.
