Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Tuesday that the country is in the midst of “one of the most critical junctures” in its history, with about one million people displaced by Israel’s devastating war.
In a meeting with UN organizations and ambassadors of donor nations to the government’s response plan to the displacement crisis due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, Mikati urged close coordination with UN agencies to secure the basic needs of refugees “as we did during hardships Lebanon experienced in the past.”
“We have established, in cooperation and partnership with UN organizations, a clear and effective framework to ensure the rapid, effective and transparent provision of humanitarian aid,” he said.
