National Security Service arrests 229 people accused of terrorism, drug trafficking and extortion during this month

The Iraqi National Security Service announced the total number of operations it carried out during the current month, which resulted in the arrest of 229 people accused of terrorism, drug trafficking and extortion.

The Service stated in a statement that ‘during the current month of September, it achieved a series of prominent security achievements in all governorates of the country, including various cases.’

It explained that “its operations resulted in the arrest of 42 people accused of terrorism, 63 people involved in drug trafficking and promotion, 70 electronic blackmailers, in addition to 54 people belonging to extremist religious movements and other qualitative operations.”
