SEDD Releases 2024 ‘Sustainable Economy’ Report Highlighting Economic Growth in Sharjah


Sharjah: The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has unveiled its 2024 annual report, titled ‘Sustainable Economy.’ The report reviews significant developments within various economic sectors, alongside the measures and efforts undertaken by the department across all sectors and activities.



According to Emirates News Agency, the report serves as a comprehensive tool for stakeholders in the emirate’s economic sectors, introducing them to key results achieved. This initiative supports the business environment and enables investment in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership and meets the expectations of investors and entrepreneurs.



Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, emphasized that under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and with the oversight of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Sharjah has developed a unique economic model that balances authenticity with modernity. This approach reflects a commitment to sustainable development through strategic plans that aim at achieving economic growth aligned with global best practices.



Al Mahmoud remarked on the department’s strategic methodologies and action plans, which focus on future-oriented economic and development work. These strategies aim to fulfill aspirations for excellence and leadership, ensuring global competitiveness and improving performance indicators across various fields.



The department has prioritized issuing comprehensive annual reports to document economic development achievements. The statistics and data in the report showcase the department’s efforts in advancing its tasks and commitment to continuous development, with the aim of providing distinguished economic services.



Fahad Ahmed Al Khamiri, Director of SEDD, highlighted the department’s success in achieving notable growth, with 71,318 economic licenses issued and renewed, marking a 7% growth rate compared to the previous year. This growth demonstrates the continued confidence in the business environment and sector diversification.



Abdul Aziz Omar Al Midfa, Director of the Government Communication Department at SEDD, underscored the importance of the annual report in documenting Sharjah’s economic progress. The report provides essential data, statistics, and analyses for investors and decision-makers, facilitating access to economic prospects and future development in the emirate.



Al Midfa elaborated on the report’s content, noting that it monitors key economic indicators and devotes space to various topics, including investments, business licenses, competitiveness, economic sustainability, digitalisation, and human capital investment.
