TVSDC, DRC sign deal for youth resilience project

The Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission (TVSDC) and the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide an empowering environment for Jordanian and Syrian youth. The MoU, part of DRC’s Resilient Youth, Socially and Economically Empowered (RYSE) project, seeks to study and identify the skills needed for youth to move on to the labor market, in cooperation with the private sector, according to Raghda Faouri, Chairman of TVSDC. Under the agreement, four national occupational standards (NOS) will be prepared for the sectors of car maintenance, foodstuffs, textiles, and solar energy. The project will be implemented by the TVSDC, in coordination with the DRC, the Jordan River Foundation, Generations For Peace, Mercy Corps, and INJAZ, with funding from the Danish Novo Nordisk Foundation. DRC’s Country Director Fatma Chehidi stressed that this cooperation would educate Jordanian youth on local market needs and help them find their career path, underscoring the significance of the selected sectors in Jordan’s future production. The DRC is a global non-governmental and non-profit charitable organization that supports youth through its ongoing projects. The RYSE project benefits 25,000 young men and women from Syrian refugees and low-income Jordanians affected by the Syrian crisis.
