Geneva: The United Arab Emirates has reiterated its full solidarity with Qatar and condemned an Israeli attack that targeted the Gulf nation during a Human Rights Council debate in Geneva. The UAE described the attack as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, a breach of international law, and a threat to regional peace.
According to Emirates News Agency, Jamal Jama Al Musharakh, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, delivered the statement during an urgent debate convened by the UN Human Rights Council. The meeting was requested by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Al Musharakh expressed condolences to Qatar following the death of a member of Qatar’s Internal Security Force due to the attack. He affirmed the UAE’s unwavering support for Qatar in facing threats to its security and stability.
He highlighted that Qatar’s security is vital to the stability of all Gulf Cooperation Council member states. Al Musharakh warned that aggression against any GCC state is an attack on collective Gulf security, cautioning against rhetoric that could destabilize the region further.
Al Musharakh concluded his remarks by stressing the need to avoid further escalation and instability, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the principles of the UN Charter.
