UAE leads launch of new industrial era in MENA region

ABU DHABI, The UAE is launching a new industrial era based on advanced technology, employing resources and capabilities, strengthening international and regional partnerships, and pushing efforts to build an advanced and competitive Middle Eastern industrial fortress, through the signing of the “Industrial partnership for Sustainable Economic Growth” with Egypt and Jordan.

This strategic partnership between the three countries is based on achieving five strategic goals, which are developing world-class competitive industries, achieving secure and flexible supply chains, stimulating sustainable growth, supporting growth and integration of value chains and trade between them, and promoting value-added manufacturing sectors.

The partnership reflects the UAE’s keenness to strengthen relations and enhance foundations of sustainable development and prosperity in the region, through a diversified and sustainable industrial sector that relies on quality industrial projects in five areas that promote economic growth, support the exchange of experiences, and enhance integration between each country on the terms of enhancing food and drug security, integrating value chains, and developing more joint industries in the future.

Ministry of Health detects three new cases of Monkeypox

ABU DHABI, The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) has announced three new cases of Monkeypox, in line with the UAE health authorities’ policy on the early detection and monitoring of the disease.

“Monkeypox is a viral disease, but usually a self-limited one, if compared to Covid-19. It’s mostly transmitted to humans through close contact with an infected person or animal, including bodily fluids, and respiratory droplets, or with material contaminated with the virus. It can also be passed to the baby in the womb,” the Ministry said in a statement.

MoHaP urged all community members to follow appropriate preventive measures and careful precautions while travelling and to stay safer in large crowds and avoid risky behaviours.

It also reassured all community members that the UAE health authorities are taking all necessary measures, including investigation, examination of contacts, and monitoring their health.

Moreover, the Ministry affirmed that it is cooperating with other health authorities in implementing an epidemiological surveillance system, in accordance with the highest global practices, to ensure sustainable efficiency and community protection from communicable diseases, and rapid detection, as well as work to limit the spread of all diseases and viruses, including monkeypox.

“All health authorities in the country are committed to a unified national medical guide for dealing with Monkeypox-infected people and their contacts. This includes complete isolation of the infected in hospitals until they recover, while quarantining their close contacts for a period of no less than 21 days at home and monitoring their health condition, and enforcing their compliance with home isolation.”

The Ministry called for obtaining information from official sources in the UAE, and for refraining from spreading rumours and false information, highlighting the importance of staying updated on relevant developments and guidelines issued by the UAE health authorities.

AED26.1 million lighting projects in Sharjah’s central region in Q1-22

SHARJAH, The Central Region Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has completed the installation and operation of 1,500 lampposts in 10 road and street construction projects during the first quarter of this year. These included the installation of 50 light boxes and 3,000 energy-efficient lighting units as well as the extension of 68 km of cables at a cost of more than AED26.133 million.

Engineer Khalifa Muhammad Al Tunaiji, Director of the Central Region Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, said that street and road lighting projects are being carried out in line with the directives of the H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and in line with the latest state-of-the-art-technology and best international practices.

He further explained that that the projects included the installation of poles of different lengths, ranging from 6 -14 meters
