Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre Partners with Novartis Middle East to Boost Health Awareness and Disease Prevention

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has formalized a partnership with Novartis Middle East FZE (Novartis) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to enhance public health awareness and improve disease prevention and management, specifically targeting cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease within the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Rashed Obaid Alsuwaidi, Director General of ADPHC, and Mohamed Ezz Eldin, Head of GCC at Novartis. The signing took place on May 13 during the 25th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from May 13 to 16, 2025. The agreement emphasizes a shared commitment to combining public health initiatives with private sector innovations to foster healthier lifestyles and improve community well-being in the region.

The collaboration is structured around three strategic pillars: disease awareness, disease prevention, and best practice sharing in disease management. The parties will co-develop campaigns to educate the public about non-communicable diseases, leveraging both digital and traditional media to promote proactive health practices such as routine testing. Additionally, initiatives will be designed for the primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, focusing on targeted screenings to identify at-risk individuals early.

Moreover, the partnership will facilitate the sharing and implementation of best practices in disease management. This includes establishing early screening protocols, preventive strategies, and disease management models by drawing on global expertise to enhance patient outcomes and improve the healthcare system’s performance.

A dedicated taskforce will be established under this MoU, with each organization appointing a lead to coordinate efforts. The taskforce will meet regularly to align project plans, assess feasibility, and define and evaluate key deliverables through jointly agreed key performance indicators (KPIs). These KPIs will be reviewed every six months to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and adapt to emerging public health needs.
