Abu dhabi: ADNOC has launched a global liquefied natural gas (LNG) marketing and trading platform in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), integrating the marketing activities of ADNOC Gas and XRG with the trading capabilities of ADNOC Trading. This initiative aims to enhance flexibility and shipping optionality, supporting ADNOC Gas' expanding LNG portfolio and XRG's international growth, while strengthening global customer access.
According to Emirates News Agency, the platform is designed to manage a growing and diverse LNG portfolio, building on ADNOC's longstanding reputation as a trusted LNG supplier. Targeting 47 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of marketable LNG by 2035, the platform will position ADNOC and XRG among leading global LNG players and reinforce Abu Dhabi's status as a global energy trading hub.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC CEO, emphasized the platform's importance in meeting global energy demands, stating, "This world-class, integrated commercial LNG platform creates a single global hub in Abu Dhabi, enhancing the scale, flexibility, and optionality of our LNG marketing and trading capabilities."
Rashid Al Mazrouei has been appointed as Chief Marketing and Origination Officer (LNG), responsible for the combined equity LNG portfolios of XRG and ADNOC Gas. He will oversee long-term LNG marketing and origination from ADGM, ensuring continuity across the platform, which builds on ADNOC Gas's legacy as a reliable LNG supplier since 1977.
The platform's launch maintains ADNOC Gas's existing commercial LNG arrangements while optimizing marketing activities, including future Ruwais LNG volumes. XRG's growing global LNG portfolio is supported by supply hubs in London and Abu Dhabi.
Long-term LNG marketing will be centralized under the platform, with ADNOC Trading handling trading activities. ADNOC Trading has established a significant third-party LNG portfolio, ranking among the top global LNG financial traders with offices in Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Geneva.
Shipping remains crucial to the platform's capabilities, with ADNOC Trading's LNG shipping desk ranked among the top global LNG charterers in 2025. ADNOC L and S has expanded its LNG fleet to 20 vessels, supporting UAE LNG production and global trade.
