Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, presided over the council's inaugural meeting. This meeting followed the issuance of Decree No. (24) of 2025 by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting focused on evaluating key initiatives that are pivotal for the growth of Dubai's media landscape. The session saw the participation of Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the council, Nehal Badri, Secretary-General, and other notable members, including Malek Al Malek, Hala Badri, and Aisha Miran, among others.

In the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed reviewed the progress in implementing strategies from the recent film industry retreat. These strategies aim to bolster Dubai's position as a significant filmmaking hub. He emphasized the transformation of Dubai's media sector, focusing on talent development, regulatory frameworks, and the adoption of advanced technologies.

The Dubai Media Council also evaluated outcomes from the film industry retreat hosted by Dubai Films and Games. The retreat, held in February, gathered global and local stakeholders to assess the UAE film industry's current state and formulate a strategy for future growth. A comprehensive report presented during the meeting highlighted strategic themes such as enhancing production infrastructure and nurturing talent.

Al Marri noted that Dubai's media landscape is advancing rapidly, powered by emerging technologies and creative talent. She emphasized the role of media in cultural storytelling and the expression of national identity. Badri added that following the film industry retreat, efforts are being made to enhance regulatory frameworks and streamline processes to support industry efficiency.

The council also prepared for the upcoming Arab Media Summit, scheduled for May 2025, which aims to bring regional and global media leaders together for dialogue and knowledge exchange.
