Abu dhabi: The Anti-Drug Trafficking and Anti-Smuggling Committees of the Anti-Drug Council convened to formulate strategies aimed at countering drug smuggling and trafficking operations. The meeting focused on analyzing the tactics employed by cross-border smuggling gangs, including their smuggling plans, concealment techniques, and potential alternative methods, as well as the impact on regional stability.
According to Emirates News Agency, representatives from various sectors, including directors and officers from the Anti-Drug Trafficking Department, the National Guard Command, and Federal Customs, participated in the meeting. They assessed the country’s transportation activities across land, air, and sea, ensuring that these sectors remain stable and are not exploited by international drug gangs.
The committees also evaluated potential scenarios that drug smuggling gangs might employ, identifying specific airports, seaports, and border crossings that could be targeted as entry points for international drug smuggling operations.
An action plan was developed in response, outlining several measures to prevent and interrupt efforts to bring and traffic drugs into the country. This initiative aligns with the strategic directions of the Anti-Narcotics Council, which aims to strengthen the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating drug smuggling.
