Arab League Endorses Lebanon-Israel Agreement as Key Step for Stability

Abu dhabi: Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, has expressed support for the framework agreement brokered between Lebanon and Israel through United States mediation. He emphasized that this agreement is a significant move towards enabling Lebanon to regain its sovereignty and facilitate a comprehensive Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. This development is expected to assist in the return of displaced persons, release detainees, and rally international efforts for the reconstruction of the southern region.

According to Emirates News Agency, during a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Aboul Gheit reiterated his ongoing support for Lebanon's government in its pursuit of security, stability, and national sovereignty. He underlined the Arab League's unwavering solidarity with Lebanon and its readiness to meet its obligations.

Simultaneously, Aboul Gheit cautioned against Israel's ongoing provocative actions and aggressive stance, which threaten to derail the agreement's implementation. He urged the preservation of national unity and called on the Lebanese people to unite behind their state and government to counteract efforts aimed at creating division and endangering civil peace.
