Vienna: Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger highlighted the importance of effective multilateralism, international rule of law, and peacebuilding during discussions in Vienna with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
According to Emirates News Agency, Wang Yi arrived in Austria late on Friday as part of a European tour that also includes Slovenia and Poland. During the talks, Meinl-Reisinger urged China to leverage its role as a permanent UN Security Council member to press Russia to end the war in Ukraine. She also reiterated Austria’s readiness to host negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen also met with Wang Yi. Their discussions encompassed topics such as geopolitical challenges, climate change, and bilateral ties. Both parties emphasized the increasing necessity for an effective multilateral order.
