Ottawa: The Canadian government announced that travelers arriving from Ebola-affected regions will now be required to self-isolate for a period of 21 days. Additionally, immigration authorities have decided to temporarily suspend decisions on applications from the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda.
According to Emirates News Agency, Luc Brisebois, director-general for the Centre for Border and Travel Health at the Public Health Agency of Canada, stated that these measures are being adopted out of an 'abundance of caution' and are scheduled to remain in effect until August 29. The new regulations will be enforced starting Saturday, and provisions will be made for those travelers who do not have a place to isolate.
The Canadian authorities are taking these precautionary steps to prevent any potential spread of the Ebola virus within its borders. The decision reflects the country's commitment to maintaining public health and safety as a priority.
