Central African Republic Declares Cholera Outbreak After 24 Deaths

Abu dhabi: The Central African Republic has declared a cholera outbreak after confirming 24 deaths and 197 cases near the capital Bangui, according to the health minister.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Ministry of Health announced on June 26, 2026, that the cholera outbreak has been confirmed in the health districts of Bimbo and Mbaiki, southwest of Bangui. Pierre Somse, the health minister, shared this information late Friday.

Measures to limit the spread have already been implemented in the affected areas, and additional efforts are being deployed in nearby towns to prevent further transmission.
