Dubai: Dr Robin Mann, Chairman of the International Best Practice Competition (IBPC), has honored Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), for his leadership in establishing a world-class excellence framework. This recognition follows DEWA's achievement of global distinction through their innovative practices.
According to Emirates News Agency, a total of 11 DEWA teams were recognized for their outstanding practices, each classified as a global best practice with ratings between five and seven stars. This achievement highlights DEWA's organizational excellence and commitment to innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement. Of the submissions, five practices received a seven-star rating, three received six stars, and another three earned five stars.
Dr. Mann praised DEWA's success in the first IBPC Best Practice Certification Programme, noting that the 11 DEWA practices assessed at a five-star level or above confirm their status as international best practices. He emphasized that this accomplishment reflects DEWA's dedication to excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing. The certification process not only validates DEWA's achievements but also enhances the capability of its teams to document, present, and share best practices. These recognized practices are expected to support DEWA International in disseminating DEWA's expertise globally.

The seven-star recognized practices include the Gas Turbine Intelligent Controller, Hab-Reeh interactive web service for solar photovoltaic harmonic emissions compliance, Hydro Insight AI-powered smart water monitoring system, the IWPP model, and world-record reduction of gas turbine outage periods. Six-star practices encompass the Innovation and Future Shaping Integrated Framework, DEWA's data-driven approach to training effectiveness, and the 132kV digitally optimized substation design. Five-star practices include cable lifecycle ageing, world-class collections efficiency, and smart bank guarantees.
