Dubai Chambers Bolsters Trade and Investment Ties with Ontario Through Strategic Meetings in Toronto

Dubai: Dubai Chambers has engaged in a series of discussions in Toronto to strengthen trade and investment partnerships between Dubai and Ontario, Canada. The meetings aimed to support Canadian companies in expanding into Dubai and regional markets, while also exploring cooperation in innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), institutional investment, and international business development.

According to Emirates News Agency, Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Chairman of Dubai Chambers, and Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, led the delegation in meetings with key Canadian economic and investment entities. These included Toronto Global, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Toronto Region Board of Trade, the Vector Institute, and the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.

Al Mansoori emphasized Dubai's ongoing efforts to solidify its status as a global hub for trade and investment, highlighting the importance of strategic economic partnerships with Canada. He stated, "Recognising the importance of strategic economic partnerships as a key pillar of sustainable growth, we are focused on enhancing cooperation with Canada and expanding collaboration in strategic future-focused sectors."

The meetings included discussions with Stephen Lund, CEO of Toronto Global, focusing on attracting international investment and supporting Canadian companies looking to leverage Dubai's business environment. The conversations highlighted collaboration through initiatives that facilitate companies' international expansion.

The delegation also met with Marilyn Horrick, Chair of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, to discuss supporting chamber members in diversifying their international markets and exploring services Dubai offers for companies aiming to expand regionally.

In a meeting with Giles Gherson, President and CEO of the Toronto Region Board of Trade, the focus was on strengthening trade links between Dubai and the Toronto region, supporting SMEs, and exploring cooperation in innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and smart city development.

Additionally, discussions with Glenda Crisp, CEO of the Vector Institute, revolved around collaboration with AI research centers and supporting companies in adopting advanced technologies. They also considered the exchange of expertise in AI solutions development.

A meeting with Jo Taylor, President and CEO of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, highlighted Dubai's investment potential and explored opportunities for the fund's portfolio companies to expand into regional markets. The discussions also covered cooperation in innovation-driven sectors and sustainable investments.

The visit is part of Dubai Chambers' 'Growth Corridors' initiative, aimed at expanding trade and investment cooperation with promising global markets.
