Abu dhabi: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority (DECCA) has announced the inaugural Dubai Environment Conference and Exhibition 2026 (DECE) scheduled for 7-8 September 2026 at the Grand Hyatt Dubai. The event will operate under the theme 'Protecting Our Environment. Securing Our Future', aiming to foster environmental dialogue and climate action across national and regional levels.
According to Emirates News Agency, DECE 2026 aims to bolster the UAE's environmental and sustainability ambitions, integrating with key national frameworks including the National Climate Change Plan 2017-2050, the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy, the National Green Agenda 2030, the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The event will gather decision-makers, representatives from government and private sectors, environmental experts, and specialists to discuss sustainability's future in Dubai. This will be facilitated through panel discussions, research presentations, and expert-led sessions that showcase initiatives and solutions advancing environmental and climate action.
Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Director General of DECCA, emphasized the conference's role in uniting sustainability and environmental protection specialists from the UAE and the region. He highlighted that DECE 2026 marks an essential step in Dubai's journey to become a global leader in environmental innovation, strengthening cross-sector collaboration and accelerating climate action to achieve Dubai's sustainability objectives.
DECE 2026 will provide a platform for collaboration among government and private-sector entities, academic institutions, and environmental experts. It will also promote the exploration of emerging solutions and technologies that can expedite progress toward sustainability, contributing to Dubai's vision for a sustainable and innovative future.
The conference will focus on six core themes: biodiversity, natural resources, food security, climate change, the circular economy, and environmental artificial intelligence. Each theme will address critical aspects of Dubai's environmental priorities, from habitat restoration and resource preservation to food security strategies and innovative climate action technologies.
The Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, established under Law No. (11) of 2024, leads the charge in mitigating the impacts of climate change and aligning with the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy. By fostering strategic partnerships across government, business, academia, and the community, DECCA aims to protect the environment and enhance its sustainability, reinforcing Dubai's status as a global model for environmental and climate action.
