Paris: EM and E Group, a prominent Spanish entity specializing in defence and security innovation, and the United Arab Emirates' advanced technology and defence conglomerate, EDGE, have formalized their partnership to establish a joint venture during the Eurosatory event. This venture, initially announced in February, aims to enhance the defence capabilities and technological advancements within the UAE.
According to Emirates News Agency, the new company had initially projected a commercial pipeline of $1.5 billion, which has now been revised upwards by 15%, reaching $1.725 billion. The agreement was signed by Omar Al Zaabi, President - Commercial of EDGE Group, and Fernando Fern¡ndez, CEO of EM and E Group. It outlines the operational framework for the joint venture, which is expected to commence in the final quarter of 2026.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to globally promote advanced weapon systems developed by EM and E Group through a co-production framework. The Spanish firm will undertake a crucial technology transfer to facilitate EDGE's industrial and technological ecosystem, enabling the manufacture of various components on UAE soil. Meanwhile, the remaining production will continue in Spain. Furthermore, the new entity will develop a new weapon station designed to meet the evolving needs of the global defence landscape.
Omar Al Zaabi expressed that the collaboration integrates EM and E's advanced weapon systems into EDGE's industrial framework, providing a robust platform to cater to global clients. He noted the increased commercial pipeline to $1.725 billion as evidence of strong demand for their collaborative efforts, with operations set to begin as scheduled.
Fernando Fern¡ndez highlighted that the agreement marks the realization of their joint venture with EDGE, emphasizing the international expansion and technological innovation spearheaded by EM and E Group from Spain.
