EDGE Group and Safran Forge Strategic Aerospace and Defence Partnership

Beirut: EDGE Group, the UAE-based advanced technology and defence group, and Safran, the French aerospace and defence leader, have signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement at Eurosatory 2026, establishing a structured framework for deeper cooperation and broadening the scope of joint work across their wider portfolios.

According to Emirates News Agency, EDGE Group and Safran have been collaborating on several programmes in defence electronics, smart weapons, and other key areas, leveraging over three decades of Safran's presence in the United Arab Emirates. The new agreement aims to further strengthen this partnership by expanding its scope to a broader range of equipment, capabilities, and know-how that both groups can tackle together. This move addresses the significant changes in modern warfare, such as the increasing role of unmanned systems, electronic warfare, and the need for greater resilience and autonomy in defence capabilities.

Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, emphasized the genuine partnership built on shared values and complementary capabilities. He noted that signing the agreement in Paris, coinciding with the opening of EDGE Europe, marks a significant milestone in the relationship and highlights the potential for further collaboration.

Olivier Andri¨s, Chief Executive Officer of Safran, highlighted the solid foundation provided by Safran's long-standing presence in the UAE. Through the Strategic Cooperation Agreement, Safran is committed to building a shared vision with EDGE focused on developing advanced technologies and innovative solutions. By combining their respective strengths and expertise, Safran and EDGE aim to accelerate the development of high-value capabilities to address current and future challenges in the aerospace and defence sectors.
