Abu Dhabi: Emirates Food Industries (EFI) showcased its integrated production system at the 'Make it in the Emirates' event, emphasizing its contribution to national food security with a comprehensive supply chain extending from animal feed to dairy products.
According to Emirates News Agency, EFI is in the process of developing new facilities at Khalifa Port as part of a national initiative aimed at enhancing food security. These developments include a group of factories and a silo project intended to expand the company's production capacity.
Kholoud Al Nuaimi, Senior Business Excellence Manager at EFI, highlighted the company's fully integrated production cycle during an interview with Emirates News Agency. The cycle encompasses preparation, packaging, and distribution, enabling EFI products to reach over 31 locations across the UAE. Additionally, some products are exported to French companies that supply the US market.
EFI operates from two principal facilities located in Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali. The company produces a wide range of livestock feed for cows and sheep using imported raw materials, with all production processes conducted domestically.
Al Nuaimi also noted that the company produces approximately 7,000 tonnes annually, consisting of around 380 different feed types for cows and sheep. All packaging is produced locally at the National Bags Factory.
EFI supports its own cattle farms in Al Ain, which house 7,000 cows and generate approximately 40 million liters of milk annually. A portion of this milk is processed into dairy products at the National Dairy Farm, completing a domestic production cycle.
