First Deputy Speaker of FNC Engages in Strategic Talks with Azerbaijani National Assembly Speaker in Baku

Baku: Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), engaged in discussions with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during the 20th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) held in Baku. The conference, hosted by Azerbaijan's National Assembly, has been a platform for dialogue and cooperation among member states, running until June 25.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting saw the participation of several FNC members. Dr. Al Tayer conveyed greetings from Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the FNC, to Dr. Gafarova, emphasizing the Council's dedication to enhancing parliamentary cooperation with Azerbaijan. This commitment aims to advance the shared interests of the UAE and Azerbaijan, reinforcing their friendly relations.

Both representatives acknowledged the strong ties between the UAE and Azerbaijan, noting significant progress in various sectors. These advancements are attributed to a shared vision and mutual support from the leadership of both nations, which underscores a model of constructive cooperation rooted in mutual trust and respect.

The discussion also highlighted the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries, which took effect in April. This agreement is seen as a strategic initiative to boost trade and expand cooperation in key sectors, thereby supporting sustainable development and economic growth.

Moreover, the meeting underscored the need for ongoing coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern. Dr. Al Tayer reiterated the UAE's approach of supporting stability and development, respecting state sovereignty, and promoting dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve conflicts, which aligns with the broader goals of ensuring security and fostering opportunities for prosperity.
