Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has announced an AED1 million grant to support participants in 'Dubai Dates'. The grant recognizes their contribution to preserving and strengthening the UAE's national heritage.
According to Emirates News Agency, this grant is a continuation of Sheikh Hamdan's support for the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre and its initiatives that promote heritage and community sustainability. The palm tree, a symbol deeply rooted in Emirati culture, plays a pivotal role in this vision, representing a connection between land, people, and identity. This financial support underscores the leadership's commitment to the palm tree as a heritage symbol and provides direct aid to palm owners, farmers, and participants who contributed to the success of the event's third edition.
Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, CEO of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, expressed gratitude to Sheikh Hamdan, highlighting the significance of this gesture as a recognition of the efforts made to preserve the national heritage. He reiterated that supporting heritage initiatives is a national responsibility and emphasized the importance of continuous encouragement from leadership. Organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre from 18th to 26th July 2026 at Qalaat Al Rimal on the Dubai-Al Ain Road, 'Dubai Dates' concluded its third edition with vibrant competitions and activities, attracting significant public attention and official visits. The event celebrated the enduring value of the palm tree as a living presence in Emirati life, not just a symbolic memory.
The final day of the event saw winners of 'Al Nader Cup' being honoured by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri and His Excellency Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook. Ateeq Saif Al Omaimi was awarded the 'Al Das Al Thahabi' Award for excellence, reflecting the event's emphasis on quality and continuity.
The event highlighted the palm tree's cultural and social significance, bringing together generations to celebrate their heritage. It also acknowledged the contributions of key figures, such as the late Abdullah bin Rashid Al Shamsi and Dr. Rashid Ahmed Al Mazrouei, for their work in preserving the palm tree's legacy.
