Hamdan bin Zayed Welcomes UAE Council for Fatwa Delegation in Rabat


Rabat: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, today received a delegation from the UAE Council for Fatwa in Rabat, Morocco. The delegation was headed by His Eminence Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Council, and Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darai, Vice Chairman, along with other members and experts in Islamic studies and Fatwa.



According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed extended a welcome to Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah and the scholars, commending the Council’s role in fostering values of tolerance and moderation. The efforts align with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the meeting, discussions included the Council’s key initiatives within the UAE’s fatwa system.



The gathering featured a presentation by Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al-Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, on the ‘Hamdan bin Zayed Diploma for Sustainable Humanitarian Work’. This diploma aims to develop specialised professionals capable of impactful humanitarian contributions in giving and development fields.



The visit is part of a broader context, coinciding with a scientific workshop organized by the UAE Council for Fatwa in partnership with Morocco’s The Higher Council of Ulema. The workshop focuses on the regulations and policies governing fatwas, aiming to bolster cooperation, enhance communication, and facilitate expertise exchange in religious affairs between the two nations.



The meeting was attended by several Sheikhs and officials, reflecting the importance of the collaboration.
