Healthcare Visionaries to Headline Inaugural Sharjah Next: Healthcare Series on 29th October


Sharjah: Global healthcare visionaries will take center stage at the inaugural Sharjah Next: Healthcare series, a flagship event dedicated to innovation in medicine, biotechnology, and sustainable health systems. The two-day forum will be held at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) on 29th-30th October 2025.



According to Emirates News Agency, the event is set to create a global stage for dialogue, discovery, and collaboration. Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, emphasized the aim to connect international expertise with local opportunity, ensuring that innovation in Sharjah translates into lasting health and wellbeing for communities everywhere.



Dr. Asma Mahmoud Fikri, Director of Government and Corporate Partnerships at SPARK, highlighted the milestone for Sharjah’s innovation ecosystem with the participation of inspiring minds in global healthcare. Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, Professor Humaid Obaid Al-Shamsi, and Dr. Vladimir Ivkovic are among the notable speakers who will redefine the frontiers of medicine and human resilience.



Leading a keynote panel titled ‘Breakthroughs in Healthcare R and D’ will be Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub, a cardiothoracic surgeon known for his work in heart and lung transplantation and surgical innovation. Professor Humaid Obaid Al-Shamsi, CEO of the Burjeel Cancer Institute and a Visiting Professor at Harvard Medical School, will bring his expertise in oncology and cancer networks. Dr. Vladimir Ivkovic, associated with Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, will discuss neuroscience and human resilience, informed by his research with NASA and the International Space Station.



The event will conclude with a Nature Masterclass on Clinical Research Methodology on October 30, led by Dr. Jeffrey Robens from SPRINGER NATURE Japan.



Sharjah Next: Healthcare is supported by partners like BEEAH, Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres, and Sharjah Health Authority. The programme will feature technologies and research outcomes in biotechnology, digital health, and patient-centric care, enhancing collaboration between academia, industry, and government to advance Sharjah’s mission as a hub for medical innovation and sustainable healthcare development.
