Abu dhabi: The Department of Energy - Abu Dhabi has announced the launch of the first edition of Abu Dhabi Water and Power Week (ADWPW) from December 8-10, 2026, at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. This event coincides with the UAE's hosting of the 2026 UN Water Conference in partnership with the Republic of Senegal.
According to Emirates News Agency, the conference aims to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for sustainable water solutions. It aligns with the Abu Dhabi Government's commitment to supporting the global water agenda and fostering international dialogue on water management challenges. The event also underscores the UAE's dedication to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which focuses on ensuring sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
The inaugural edition of Abu Dhabi Water and Power Week will gather decision-makers, industry leaders, and experts worldwide to present solutions, technologies, and policies for enhancing water sustainability and security. The event will emphasize the importance of advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, digital systems, and smart infrastructure in improving water management and system resilience.
The programme will address water scarcity, resource-use efficiency, water reuse, and strategic investments. It aims to build a sustainable and climate-resilient water sector by exploring practical and innovative solutions.
A significant feature of the event will be the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative's high-level international summit. This summit will unite leading experts, innovators, and financial institutions to explore innovative financing, public-private partnerships, and emerging technologies like renewable energy-powered desalination and water reuse.
This inaugural event is expected to lay the groundwork for future annual events under Abu Dhabi Water and Power Week. It will reinforce Abu Dhabi's role as a global centre for dialogue and innovation in water and energy sectors while promoting sustainable solutions to global development challenges.
The event is in line with Abu Dhabi's Integrated Water Strategy and the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, focusing on sustainability, efficiency, wastewater reuse, and building a resilient water system.
