Iraq and the United States discussed the future relationship for the presence of the International Coalition.
The Ministry of Defense stated in a statement: “Minister Thabet Al-Abbasi, at the head of a high-ranking delegation, visited the United States of America, in response to the official invitation he received from the US Department of Defense to participate in the joint security cooperation dialogue to exchange intelligence information.
It added, “Al-Abbasi, on the sidelines of the visit, held a detailed meeting with his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, at the headquarters of the US Department of Defense, during which they discussed the future relationship of the presence of the International Coalition, and bilateral security cooperation between Iraq and America, in addition to the exchange of intelligence information that will contribute to eliminating what Remnants of ISIS terrorist cells and remnants.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the issue of exchanging experiences and joint exercises between the two countries.
It indicated that the visit will continue for several days, during which several meetings will be held between the Iraqi delegation and military officials in the United States of America.
It is noteworthy that the delegation accompanying the Minister of Defense to Washington included the heads of the Anti-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Abd al-Wahhab al-Saadi, Commander of the Army Staff General Abd al-Amir Rashid Yarallah, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, and a number of advisors and officers.
