Joint Condemnation by Eight Nations’ Foreign Ministers on West Bank Violence

Abu dhabi: The Foreign Ministers of the UAE, Jordan, Trkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have issued a joint statement condemning the escalating settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The ministers highlighted recent attacks on the Grand Mosque in Jiljilya and Al-Farouq Mosque in Mazar'a al-Nubani, north of Ramallah, as particularly concerning.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ministers emphasized that these attacks represent a blatant violation of the sanctity of religious sites and contravene international law, including international humanitarian law, as well as relevant United Nations resolutions. They expressed their firm rejection of these attacks by Israeli settlers and criticized the ongoing illegal Israeli measures in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which they claim contribute to instability and undermine peace efforts.

The ministers called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations by pressuring Israel to cease its actions in the West Bank. They urged for an end to settler violence, accountability for the perpetrators, and prevention of impunity.

Additionally, the ministers reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, supporting their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They also expressed their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a lasting peace based on a two-state solution, in alignment with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
