Mansour bin Zayed Establishes New Guidelines for Inmate Private Accommodation in Abu Dhabi

Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has issued a resolution concerning the placement of inmates in private accommodation within Abu Dhabi's correctional and rehabilitation centers. This directive is part of his role as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

According to Emirates News Agency, the resolution is a significant regulatory development in the region. It aims to enhance humane care and provide psychological and social support for inmates. The resolution establishes an integrated rehabilitation framework, which ensures legal safeguards while offering a rehabilitative environment tailored for specific inmate categories. This initiative aims to aid in the social reintegration of inmates.

The resolution is part of broader efforts to deliver specialized care for cases that require enhanced rehabilitative support. It seeks to promote psychological stability among inmates and enable them to use their sentence period constructively for self-improvement and rehabilitation.

The new policy applies on an optional basis to inmates convicted of misdemeanors and financial crimes. Furthermore, the Chairman of the Correctional and Rehabilitation Policy Committee at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department is authorized to approve exemptions for inmates convicted of felonies if it serves the public interest.
