Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has entered into memoranda of understanding with five private healthcare facilities, including Thumbay Group Hospitals, University Hospital, Ajman Hospital, Fujairah Hospital, Amina Hospital, and Dar Al Kamal Hospital. These agreements aim to fortify national health security and establish a responsive system for future challenges. The initiative seeks to enhance collaboration between the public and private sectors in managing emergencies and ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services under a unified national framework.
According to Emirates News Agency, the signing ceremony was attended by Dr Amin Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector, with Dr Abdul Karim Abdullah Al Zarouni, Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Advisor, signing on behalf of the Ministry. The agreements entrust the Ministry with overseeing the development and regular updating of emergency medical response plans for the involved hospitals, focusing on medical evacuation protocols and business continuity strategies.
Participating healthcare facilities have pledged to allocate 30% of their bed capacity upon the Ministry's request and maintain a two-month stockpile of essential medicines and supplies. They will also create control rooms for continuous coordination with the Ministry's operations centre. Dr. Abdul Karim Abdullah Al Zarouni emphasized that these memoranda signify a shift in the UAE's health emergency management strategy, fostering an operational partnership that standardizes protocols between public and private sectors.
Dr Al Zarouni highlighted the integration of human and technological resources, with commitments to digital integration via the 'Jahiz' and 'Mawardna' platforms for real-time data flow. Continued investment in training, simulation exercises, and strategic medical stockpiles is intended to enhance readiness. The Ministry will provide technical support to private partners to ensure preparedness for health emergencies.
Healthcare facilities are required to update their resource data through approved digital platforms while maintaining data confidentiality. Officials from private facilities affirmed their support for the Ministry's efforts, highlighting the importance of shared social responsibility and unified preventive measures to ensure business continuity and community protection. The collaborative approach aims to set global standards for preparedness and response to health crises.
