Jerusalem: The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, has expressed strong condemnation of the provocative actions and ongoing violations committed by the Israeli occupation in Jerusalem, specifically highlighting repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Council firmly rejected these practices, describing them as a provocation to the sentiments of over two billion Muslims worldwide, and labeling them as incitements to hatred and violence. The Council emphasized the urgent need for an immediate cessation of these actions, accountability for those responsible, and the implementation of measures to prevent recurrence. It highlighted the necessity to respect the legal status of Jerusalem and to halt all unlawful measures against Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Muslim Council of Elders has called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by working toward an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The Council stressed the importance of ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid and relief, while also ending the prolonged hardship faced by the Palestinian people for over 70 years.
The Council reiterated the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
