Mussafah Roads to Undergo Major Upgrades by Department of Municipalities and Transport

Mussafah:The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced an ambitious plan to upgrade key roads in Mussafah, aimed at improving travel between the industrial area, Mohamed Bin Zayed City, and Zayed City.

According to Emirates News Agency, the project will cover approximately 13 kilometers along E30 and 8th Street in Mussafah. The upgrades are designed to alleviate congestion, enhance safety, and reduce travel times. A significant feature of the project is a new free-flowing highway along 8th Street, which will include three lanes in each direction and three additional lanes on each side to improve accessibility to shops and amenities without affecting the expressway traffic. This configuration will allow for an estimated capacity of 4,000 vehicles per hour.

The enhancement works will also involve upgrades to four interchanges along E30, improved connections with 8th Street and E20, and modifications to nine key junctions. The plan includes constructing two new bridges between Mussafah and Mohamed Bin Zayed City, as well as a pedestrian bridge.

Engineer Eisa Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Director-General of Infrastructure Development at DMT, emphasized the importance of catering to various travel needs in the area. He noted that planning for these needs is crucial for continued growth, supporting economic activity, and making everyday journeys easier and safer. The project is part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity across the emirate, including a planned two-tunnel undersea link between the eastern tip of Abu Dhabi Island and Mussafah.
