OpenAI Limits Release of New Model After US Government Request

Abu dhabi: ChatGPT developer OpenAI is restricting access to its latest artificial intelligence (AI) model at the request of the US government, the company said on Friday. In a blog post, OpenAI announced the launch of a "limited preview" of its GPT-5.6 series, which includes the models Sol, Terra, and Luna.

According to Emirates News Agency, OpenAI stated that as part of its ongoing engagement with the US government, it had shared its plans and the capabilities of the models ahead of the launch. The company revealed that the government requested a limited preview for a small group of trusted partners, whose participation has been communicated to the government.

OpenAI plans to make these AI models generally available in the coming weeks, following the initial limited release phase.
