President Aliyev of Azerbaijan Welcomes UAE Speaker, Emphasizes Growing Bilateral Relations


Baku: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan welcomed Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), and his delegation in Baku as part of an official visit to attend the International Parliamentary Conference marking the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Constitution.



According to Emirates News Agency, President Aliyev appreciated the UAE’s participation in the conference and recognized the strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and the UAE across various sectors. He noted that the relationship between the two countries serves as a model of constructive cooperation founded on mutual trust, respect, and shared interests. Aliyev expressed his desire to deepen collaboration in political, economic, cultural, and scientific fields.



Ghobash conveyed greetings from UAE leaders, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In response, President Aliyev extended his greetings and best wishes to the UAE leadership and its people.



The FNC Speaker praised President Aliyev’s leadership for advancing Azerbaijan’s sustainable development and maintaining its position as a model of stability and openness. Ghobash also highlighted the rapid growth in UAE-Azerbaijan relations, driven by the shared vision of both countries’ leaders. He emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation between the FNC and the National Assembly of Azerbaijan in bolstering bilateral ties.



Ghobash referred to the official visit by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Azerbaijan in September 2025, during which a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was announced. This partnership is seen as a milestone in bilateral relations, opening new opportunities for cooperation across multiple sectors.



Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing joint cooperation in parliamentary, investment, scientific, and cultural fields. Both sides underscored the importance of continued coordination in regional and international forums to promote peace, security, and sustainable development. Energy cooperation, particularly in green energy and sustainable energy transitions, was also highlighted as part of their shared commitment to sustainable development.



The meeting included participation from Mohammed Murad Alblooshi, UAE Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and several senior officials.
