Qatar Condemns Iranian Attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain

Doha: The State of Qatar has issued a strong condemnation of recent Iranian attacks on civilian targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, which notably included an assault on Kuwait International Airport. This attack resulted in significant damage to several facilities and left multiple individuals injured.

According to Emirates News Agency, the State of Qatar has deemed these acts as serious violations of the sovereignty of both Kuwait and Bahrain. It highlighted that such actions are in breach of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols, as well as international humanitarian law principles. These principles, which emphasize the distinction between civilian and military targets, prohibit attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, and ban indiscriminate attacks during armed conflicts.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's firm rejection of any targeting of civilian sites and vital infrastructure. The statement underscored the importance of protecting the region from the fallout of unprovoked attacks and stressed the need for de-escalation to restore regional and global security and stability.

The Ministry reiterated Qatar's unwavering solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain, supporting all measures taken by these nations to safeguard their sovereignty and security. Furthermore, the Ministry conveyed Qatar's wishes for a swift recovery for those injured in the attacks and prayed for the protection of Kuwait and Bahrain from further harm.
