RTA Expands Strategic Partnerships with Chinese Companies to Advance Dubai’s Transport Technologies

Abu dhabi: Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has expanded its strategic partnerships with prominent Chinese companies and institutions to leverage their expertise in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and modern transport technologies. The collaboration aims to enhance the design and construction of bridge and tunnel networks in Dubai, supporting the emirate's rapid urban and economic growth.

According to Emirates News Agency, the initiative was part of RTA's official delegation visit to China, led by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA. The visit, coordinated with the Dubai International Chamber's representative office in Shanghai, included several CEOs, directors, and young engineers from RTA's various sectors. During the visit, RTA signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with CASCO SIGNAL LTD. and Huawei Technologies to bolster cooperation in advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and smart transport systems.

The MoU with CASCO SIGNAL LTD., known for its expertise in signalling, communications, and control systems for metro and rail networks, outlines plans to establish an advanced R and D center and innovation laboratory in Dubai. This center will be linked to the Dubai Metro Blue Line project and future metro initiatives, providing a platform for system testing, functional verification, and training. It aims to improve project readiness and support the development of existing and future metro lines.

The MoU with Huawei Technologies focuses on strengthening strategic cooperation in emerging technologies, networking systems, and mobility management. It includes the exchange of technical expertise, organization of joint workshops, and implementation of proof-of-concept trials. The collaboration also covers the development of smart city applications and AI technologies to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability across RTA's domains.

Mattar Al Tayer emphasized the importance of these partnerships, stating that RTA's efforts aim to adopt global best practices and leverage advanced expertise for Dubai's transport system development. The delegation's visit included interactions with leading Chinese government entities and companies, reviewing Shanghai's integrated transport management and the Shanghai Maglev Ride Experience. The program aimed to explore future partnership opportunities and draw on global expertise in transport infrastructure and digital technologies.

The RTA delegation also reviewed the Hongqiao Integrated Transport Hub and other major infrastructure projects in China, seeking insights into best practices for enhancing mobility efficiency and quality of life in Dubai. These efforts align with RTA's plans to deploy future technologies in Dubai's transport and mobility ecosystem, reinforcing the emirate's position as a leader in smart and sustainable mobility.
