Sharjah Launches Unified Scholarship Platform for Higher Education

Sharjah: The Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research is set to open its doors to scholarship applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at higher education institutions across the emirate, starting from 1st July 2026. The applications will be accepted for a period of one month and must be submitted via a unified scholarship platform accessible on the council's official website, schesr.shj.ae.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr Aisha Mohammed Bukhatir Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the council's pivotal role as the organizing body for scholarship programmes at higher education institutions in Sharjah. She stated that this initiative is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The initiative aims to streamline the scholarship system, unify procedures, and provide support to eligible students in pursuing their academic aspirations.

Dr Al Shamsi further outlined that the council will be tasked with receiving, reviewing, approving, and monitoring scholarship applications in accordance with established regulations and criteria. This will help in promoting equal educational opportunities and establishing a cohesive framework for managing scholarships across Sharjah's higher education institutions.

The updated scholarship admission criteria have been tailored to align with the needs of the labour market and development priorities, guiding students towards specialisations in high demand. This move is designed to support future development requirements and contribute to the emirate's growth.

The scholarship programme encompasses undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities for approved eligible categories. Applications are required to be submitted electronically through the council's website, following the acquisition of admission or preliminary approval from a higher education institution in Sharjah.

The council has urged students and their families to thoroughly review the eligibility requirements, regulations, and application procedures available on its website and official channels. They also emphasize the importance of completing all application requirements within the designated timeframe.

This initiative is part of the council's broader efforts to enhance access to higher education, support students, and nurture qualified national talent that will contribute significantly to Sharjah's development aspirations.
