Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Al Dhaid (UODH), attended the “Lab Coat” event for College of Veterinary Medicine students. He also launched the veterinary medicine laboratory and visited the university’s male and female student housing facilities.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ceremony, held in the university theatre, began with the UAE national song, followed by a speech presented by student Ghala Ibrahim Al Hosani. Speaking on behalf of her classmates from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Al Hosani expressed gratitude to the President of the University of Al Dhaid for his continuous support. She emphasized that wearing the lab coat symbolizes a commitment to humanity, ethics, and knowledge, and represents a pledge to serve people, animals, and society with dedication.
Al Hosani highlighted the importance of the veterinarian’s role as a light of science and compassion, combining expertise with noble character. She reiterated her peers’ commitment to upholding the values of trust, honesty, and sincerity while contributing to the nation’s growth. The veterinary students then performed the veterinary oath, pledging to practice with integrity, protect animal health, and continuously improve their knowledge.
The event concluded with a group photo of H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan with the students, marking the start of their academic and professional journey. Following the ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan inaugurated the College of Veterinary Medicine laboratories, reviewing the latest scientific equipment and training devices, including anatomy, simulation, microbiology, and veterinary diagnostic laboratories.
H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan received briefings on laboratory activities, such as animal handling, cardiac resuscitation, and intubation procedures. He also examined surgical tools, X-Ray settings, and drug dosage methods. In the anatomy laboratory, he observed the use of digital display technology and 3D models for enhanced learning.
Faculty members informed H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan about the college’s academic and research programmes, emphasizing practical training in line with global veterinary education standards. He also toured the student residence facilities, reviewing services like healthy meals, academic support programmes, and various amenities contributing to a balanced university experience.
The male student housing accommodates 27 students, while the female housing hosts 19. Both facilities offer comfortable living environments that support students’ academic and personal development, featuring rooms, lounges, a gym, study halls, and more.
