Sharjah Sports Council Explores New Platform for Talent Registration

Sharjah: The Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Council, led by Chairman Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, has approved the arrangements for its annual summer programme, 'A Holiday Reimagined 2026'. The decision was made during the Council's periodic meeting, which aimed to discuss various initiatives to enhance the sporting landscape in the region.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Council deliberated on a proposal from the Chairman to introduce an electronic platform aimed at registering sports competencies and creating a unified database for local clubs. This initiative is expected to streamline talent acquisition and management, benefiting sports clubs across Sharjah. Additionally, the Council reviewed the initial draft of its organisational structure and discussed governance for judicial and sports oversight bodies. Institutional transparency emerged as a focal point, stemming from a legal symposium conducted by the Sharjah Judiciary.

The meeting, held at Sharjah Sports Club, saw the presence of Mohammed Obaid Al Hosan, Secretary-General, along with other members. Key topics on the agenda were addressed, including the outcomes of a recent visit to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the handover of the 'Burj Al Rabi' mountain trail to Khorfakkan Municipality, ensuring all technical requirements were met to enhance the trail.

Further discussions highlighted the Chairman's suggestion to organise monthly meetings where Council employees could engage with champions to share experiences and achievements. This initiative aims to foster motivation and creativity among staff. Moreover, the Secretary-General proposed an initiative to honour distinguished individuals from the Emirate who have achieved international recognition, reinforcing the Council's commitment to acknowledging local talent and success.
