Sharjah: The Sharjah Sports Council is set to organise an external training camp for its top athletes in Yalova, Trkiye, from 6th to 17th August. The camp will feature standout players engaged in basketball, volleyball, and handball from Sharjah's clubs, as part of the council's annual initiative to enhance training programmes abroad.
According to Emirates News Agency, a total of 60 athletes have been chosen for this camp, following a series of week-long training sessions. These players represent nine clubs from the region, including Sharjah, Al Bataeh, Al Hamriyah, Mleiha, Al Dhaid, Al Madam, Khorfakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, and Kalba, with each sport-basketball, volleyball, and handball-having 20 athletes.
Leading the delegation is Mohammed Obaid Al Hassaan, Director of Sports Affairs and Development at the Council, along with 12 technical and administrative staff members. The camp is designed to provide daily training sessions supervised by European coaches, focusing on skill exchange and exposure to global tactics. Additionally, a series of friendly matches will be held to enhance player performance and broaden their understanding of international sporting strategies.
Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Council, highlighted that these annual overseas camps are a testament to the Council's commitment to elevating the capabilities of top athletes and expanding their exposure. He underscored the significant role these experiences play for both players and technical staff, expressing hope that the camp will benefit Sharjah clubs and contribute to the development of national-level talents.
