Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Unveils UAE Hijri Calendar for 1448 AH

Abu dhabi: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre has launched the latest edition of the 'UAE Hijri Calendar' for the year 1448 AH, marking the start of the new Hijri year. This initiative upholds the Centre's commitment to preparing and distributing the UAE Hijri Calendar, which is crucial for determining prayer times across different emirates and regions, as well as identifying the start of Hijri months.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Centre has expressed hopes for the new Hijri year to bring security, stability, and prosperity. The Centre reflects on the noble Prophetic Hijrah values, such as faith, determination, and nation-building. The calendar's issuance is based on comprehensive expertise and collaboration with specialized committees to ensure precise alignment with the UAE's geographical characteristics.

The Centre aims to enhance awareness of the Hijri calendar, linking society to its religious and cultural roots. This calendar is vital for religious rituals and acts of worship tied to specific times and connects with the UAE's cultural and heritage memory, including knowledge of Deerat Al-Duroor and lunar mansions.

The 1448 AH calendar includes extensive content on prayer times for Abu Dhabi and its regions, information on Hijri months, Al-Tawale', and seasons, as well as cultural practices. It also features details about astronomical events and tidal movements, serving community members and enthusiasts.

Beyond issuing the calendar, the Centre develops knowledge systems accessible through printed and digital formats. The 'UAE Hijri Calendar' smart application offers users convenient access to prayer times, Qibla direction, and other calendar data.

The Centre has redesigned the UAE Hijri Calendar website, providing a digital platform for accessing and downloading calendar content. The edition includes the 'Roznama' hanging calendar, with prayer times, Hijri and Gregorian calendar information, and heritage content.

Books like 'The Hijri Calendar' and 'Deerat Al-Duroor wal Tawale'' are part of the annual edition, offering insights into prayer times, tidal schedules, and cultural content on lunar mansions and tides. These are available at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Library and online.

To enrich cultural understanding, the Centre has produced educational episodes on the Hijri calendar and related topics. A new series, 'The Hijri Calendar and Al-Tawale',' will launch soon, enhancing awareness of local heritage and knowledge tied to the Hijri calendar and UAE environment.

The UAE Hijri Calendar for 1448 AH is prepared using religious, astronomical, and scientific methods, supported by collaborations with entities like the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, National Centre of Meteorology, and Sharjah Academy for Astronomy. The calendar is accessible to all through various channels and distributed in cooperation with Majalis Abu Dhabi, ensuring community-wide availability.
