Shourky Receives Phone Call From UK Sate Minister


Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from Tariq Ahmad, UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, on the conditions in the Gaza Strip, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Shoukry and Ahmad reviewed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the humanitarian catastrophe that the Palestinians live daily.

They underlined the legal, humanitarian and ethical responsibility of international players in ending the humanitarian crisis and halting the Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry asserted the importance of allowing humanitarian and relief assistance into the Gaza Strip in the current stage.

Shoukry regretted the international community’s turning a deaf ear to the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinians during the high-level meetings of the Human Rights Council.

He condemned the double standards in addressing the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry and the UK minister underlined the importance
of intensifying efforts to put the truce into effect as soon as possible, releasing hostage and realizing a perpetual ceasefire.

Shoukry highlighted the gravity of any land military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah.

Shoukry agreed on continued talks in the coming period to contain the crisis in Gaza and ensure access of humanitarian assistance.
