The Wasit Criminal Court issued a 6-year prison sentence and a fine of 10 million dinars against a lawyer who admitted to using and dealing in drugs in the city of Kut, taking advantage of his carrying the Bar Association ID when crossing checkpoints.
A source in the Wasit Criminal Court told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “The ruling was issued in accordance with the provisions of Articles 28 and 32 of drugs, after the accused was arrested by the Narcotics Affairs Division in a controlled ambush in one of the cafes.”
