The Jalama checkpoint was opened to 1948 Palestinians for the first time since last October

For the first time since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip last October, our people from within the 1948 territories were able to reach Jenin Governorate, after the Israeli occupation forces opened the Al-Jalama military checkpoint northeast of the governorate.

Jenin Governor Kamal Abu Al-Rub had announced that the Palestinian Liaison was officially informed of the opening of the Al-Jalama military checkpoint to the 48 Palestinians on Friday and Saturday of every week, so that entry on Friday will be from seven in the morning until one in the afternoon, and on Saturday from seven in the morning until five-thirty in the evening.

The head of the Jenin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ammar Abu Bakr, told the official agency: At least a thousand vehicles have crossed the checkpoint since the morning hours, stressing that the arrival of our people from within the 1948 territories to the city of Jenin and its towns and villages contributes to reviving the markets and moving the wheel of the
economy, which has been stalled since the beginning. Aggression, in addition to the social dimension and communication between the people of one people.

He added that the Chamber of Commerce has prepared and provided everything necessary for our people from within the 1948 territories, after it rehabilitated and paved a number of streets destroyed by the Israeli occupation in cooperation with the governorate and Jenin merchants, noting that a high percentage of shops and restaurants opened their doors in preparation to receive shoppers and visitors.

In turn, Amjad Abu Farha, Vice President of the Al-Jalama Village Council, told ‘Wafa’ that the council, the governorate, and the Chamber of Commerce were present since the morning hours to receive our people from within the 48 lands, where Nazareth Street witnessed active commercial activity.
