UAE Dominates Japan’s Oil Imports with 40.8% Share in May

Tokyo: The United Arab Emirates emerged as the largest supplier of crude oil to Japan in May 2025, delivering 30.42 million barrels to Tokyo. This accounted for 40.8% of Japan's total crude oil imports during the month.

According to Emirates News Agency, the data released by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Agency for Natural Resources and Energy highlighted the significant role of the UAE in Japan's energy supply. Overall, Japan imported 74.61 million barrels of crude oil in May, with a substantial portion, 90.9% or 67.81 million barrels, originating from Arab nations.
